Paraglide for the Hospice - fund raising event
You may well have seen the article in this weeks County Press. The Club is organising a "Paraglide for the Hospice" event to raise funds for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. The idea is that in return for raising at least £200 in sponsorship you get a free tandem flight. The flights will take place on Saturday July 28th to coincide with the Club's summer BBQ.
Sites Night
Tim King of Sky Paragliders gave the introduction to the evening and talked
about pre-flight safety checks which was well received. One of the biggest
causes of problems is getting distracted during your checks. You only need
someone to ask you a question half way through doing up your leg straps, and
then you might turn back and completely forget that last strap. Tim recommends
that you check and double-check your equipment before you take off. I recommend
that you focus on what you are doing, and don't let yourself get put-off what
you are doing.

Limerstone Access road
Andy Hodgson has asked everyone to make sure they use the track when driving up from the Shorwell side. He has noticed people driving on the grass. Andy is a great supporter of the club, so please do stick to the rules !
Fun in the Pyrenees with Fluffy and the Isle of Wight Air Force
Despite the various cock-up's and accidents, the week in departments 11 and
66 with Udo and Jenny was great fun. Fluffy learned to always remember his
passport; Paul Ryan learned to never eat the free mints at the bar; Mike Rouse
learned never to kiss Paul Ryan on the lips after he'd eaten free mints from the
bar; Geoff just needs to relax more; Julius needs to find another sport.
Here's a great piccie taken by Julius way way above Targassonne.....Git !

Meeting Dates Announced!
Clear Skies filling up !

AGM, Club Dinner and Awards
The club AGM went off without a hitch on Sat 27th Jan.
The committee members reported on 2006 flying and events. Due to the poor weather, not much flying was done, but on one notable day, about 8 pilots got away from the hill at Chillerton, and these flights constituted the basis for the best flight awards this year.
The evening bash was held at the Bargies again, with the Caulkheads Ceilidh band providing the entertainment.
The Awards:
Best XC - Dave Fentum (2 XC flights in one day)
Best Flight - Francis Rich (Chillerton to Yarmouth)
Neptune Trophy - Mike Rouse (1st, and only, Full Blackgang run of the year)
Best Newcomer Award - Daniel Starsmore
Most Improved Pilot - John Bentley
A new committee was formed. Many thanks to the old committee!!!
