Monthly Calander of who's done what?....
The IWHGPC is based on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England.
The Island is a proven training ground with many flyable days and 12 sites within a 10 mile radius facing most wind directions. There is a good variety of terrain with cliff sites, thermal ridges, a challenging 15km cliff run and the possibility of flying sea thermals as well as the land based variety.
Always check the NEWS page, as this is updated on a regular basis. Often there are changes to site rules that are posted there.
The Island has been the training ground for a surprising number of top British pilots; Rob Whittall, John Pendry, Bruce Goldsmith, Barney Barnes, Innes Powell and Sarah Fenwick all lived and flew on the IOW in their formative years.
Visitors who are members of any UK club are encouraged to join our club as Associate Members. We are a small club, and really reply on our subs to maintain our sites. Associate Membership is only £15, and is valid until the end of the year.
If you would like to join the club or find out more about paragliding and hang gliding on the Isle of Wight please contact one of the Committee Members.
